The Prestige Hotel in Budapest, Hungary is reviewed for us by beauty expert extraordinaire Eileen Lee-Connor! Check out her fantastic blog Eileen Edit.
Once again I was lucky to come across an affordable boutique treasure in the heart of historic Budapest with the Prestige Hotel. It doesn’t look very modern from the street – just your average pretty 19th century classic all-white town house.
The moment you step into the expansive atrium converted from a courtyard, you realize how truly special this place is.
The Welcome
Lobbies can say a lot about how the designers intend for a visitor’s mood to be set so the quirkiness struck me right away with oversized tassels hanging off the arms of couches, glittery silver mosaic tiles weaving patterns through the otherwise all-black marble expanse of floor and the contemporary sleek horn-themed wall lights.
The most striking hotel feature is most of the bedrooms look into this dramatic atrium instead of outwards onto the street so you immediately feel part of the Prestige Hotel’s unique glittery world.
I am all about location when traveling and this hotel is just a stone’s throw from the Danube, the Chain Bridge, Parliament and St Stephen’s Basilica, making it the perfect base for exploring this stunning city on foot.
Sweet Suite
Rooms are elegantly furnished with shades white, cream and silver handmade stenciled wallpaper and oversized mirrors. I love tons of pillows so the Pillow Menu with Hungarian goose down and horsehair options was a nice touch.
Food-tastic
The newly opened Michelin-starred Costes Downtown restaurant next to the lobby (and accessible from the street) served spectacular breakfasts.
Chefs were on-hand to cater to my dietary limitations in creative and tasty ways so I had almond flour savory pancakes mixed with veggies, gluten-free pastries and unusual fresh juices daily.
With such great morning meals, we had to come back for dinner despite the myriad of fine local other restaurants. If you are a foodie, this is a great restaurant (and city) to explore!
Overall
Service was faultless, the city was easy to navigate and the cultural surprises kept coming throughout our stay in this glorious historical European city!
