Access to Bergdorf Goodman 24/7? In-room dining by Jean Georges? You can pinch yourself. This is not a dream after watching Breakfast At Tiffany’s for the tenth time. This is what life is like at The Mark, a NYC institution of a hotel located on the Upper East Side that oozes grace. Traditional on the outside, snazzy on the inside.
A quick Google search will showcase a red carpet of celebrities dressed in their finest en route to the Met Gala. This hotel has been reviewed for Holidays in Heels by Dubai’s own star: Rosemin Manji @roseminsworld: a luxury & fashion entrepreneur, brand ambassador, and all-around sweetheart.
Here’s what Rosemin had to say about The Mark:
“A hotel I go to all the time is The Mark in New York City. Located on the upper east side, it has a real boutique feel and the interiors are done by legendary French designer Jacques Grange. The decor is a reference of true luxury and modern Art Deco style.”
The rooms have a modern take with pops of colour and a love of the written word – there are books on coffee tables, on shelves, and even writer’s corners in some of the suites.
Rosemin says: “Everytime I go, they remember everything I like from my standard breakfast to Diptyque candles. Its all about the personal touch at The Mark.”
New York City is an epicurean’s dream come true, but you won’t have to go very far to experience some of the city’s finest cuisine. If you stay at The Mark, you’ll have the popular Jean Georges restaurant right at your doorstep – it usually has months-long waiting lists, but in-house guests can easily be accommodated.
Rosemin says: “When it comes to food, the in-room dining is also by Jean Georges.” That’s pretty amazing.
If you’re looking for a more casual (yet gourmet) option, The Mark Hot Dog stand is a perfect bite to grab and enjoy in the park.
The bar is buzzing by evening, with creative cocktails and pretty people.
Just for Ladies
The Mark really knows how to pamper guests. It’s quite creative. If you love to shop, then the Bergdorf Express is a must for you – the upscale department store is open 24/7 for guests of The Mark and there’s even private transport to take you there. Now you know what to do if you’re jet lagged at 4 a.m. – forget Breakfast at Tiffany’s, it’s all about Bergdorf’s at Dawn!
Dubai spoils us a little with weekly blow drys and mani-pedis. At The Mark, you can keep up with your routine and give it a glamorous touch.
Rosemin says: “If you love a good blow dry, then you will be happy to know that a Fredric Fekkai salon is in the hotel as well.”
Rosemin says: “They have cool pop ups, like a John Lobb shoe shinning booth, and at the moment that space is a book shop.”
There’s even special amenities for the kids – and they are surprisingly stylish, too!
And for those sweeping sunset views that will even make the kids quiet down in awe of the colours, nothing beats the outdoor terrace of the penthouse suite.
For a trendy (hot!) city like Manhattan in the summer, pack light and go for classic looks. Rosemin looks good in everything I’ve seen her wear – particularly vibrant colours that suit her skin tone and lace that adds a touch of elegance. Here’s some inspiration to Get Rosemin’s Look.
